Mergers and impact on stock price

Hello Intrinio-Team,

is there a way to find out via the API, whether two or more companies have merged?

I am especially interested in the effect on the stock price and of which kind the merger is (stock-for-stock, cash-for-stock, ...).

Thanks a lot in advance

Simon

Not directly no- the rules for disclosing M&A are complicated, here is an explanation:

https://www.quora.com/For-a-public-company-when-does-the-size-of-an-acquisition-have-to-be-disclosed-publicly

You can obtain the 10Q and 10K data from Intrinio, that's pretty straight forward, and use the statement of cash flow to deduce the cost of acquisitions, but there isn't a line item for it.

Similarly, Intrinio provides the raw text via API for parts of the filing (Notes, for example) and companies will discuss M&A in unstructured formats here- so you can get the info, but you'd have to search it for mergers.

You can get the historical stock price, so that part is definitely yes.
